British Trails Product ReviewP1zzeezee is the new kid on the block for when it comes to washing your bike, in fact this product is so new that a distributor has yet to be assigned. It's available in 1 litre and 5 litre bottles as well as a workshop 25 litre size container. The contents can be described as a pale yellow liquid and has a vague perfume that brings back distant memories of blowing bubbles as a child. It has also been engineered specifically for use on all bike components including disc brakes. I thought I'd put it to the test and really see how good this product is. Boy what a test it was lined up against. P1zzeezee versus Bristol mud. As all mountain bikers are well aware of, Bristol mud is known for being extremely sticky and clay like in the Winter months. So after a blast around the Avon Timberland Trail at Ashton Court on the outskirts of Bristol city centre, I found myself having the right conditions to put P1zzeezee to the test.
Take one dirty old mountain bike (above left), ok it's not that amazingley dirty but on a closer inspection, you can see that the barely visible chainset (above right) is clogged up with the astonishingley thick clay-like substance which is Bristol mud. Point, Squirt, Diss The Dirt. As per the instructions, which are not dissimilar to that of any other bike wash poducts that are available in any good bike shop, a simple spray of this cleaner all over the grimey bike is needed. Leave for 1 or 2 minutes, but don't allow it to dry. Then rinse off thoroughly with clean water. On stubborn areas, users are advised to use a suitable brush to agitate the dirt, again rinsing off thoroughly with clean water.
As I followed these simple instructions, and just after squirting P1zzeezee onto the grime I noticed that a lot of the dirt began to get "Dissed Away". Yes, the dirt actually appeared to dissolve in the presence of P1zzeezee - amazing, even small clumps of mud fell from the bike. As expected, assistance from a scrubbing brush was needed, especially for those areas that needed extra attention like the bindings on the clipless pedals and the moving parts of the derailleurs. The gaps in the tread of the tyres also required the use of the brush, just to get the bike looking pristine.
A rinsing off (not with a jet wash as this can blast water into susceptible bearings) thoroughly removes all the excess dirt and grime from the washed areas. The finished result is quite staggering as with some other bike washing products tend to leave a grey film is left behind as the surfaces dry which then require a wipe dry. In this case, P1zzeezee allows all surfaces to dry clean without the need to wipe them over and in this test it was noted that all the cleaned surfaces were shining as if they were new or had been polished.
So there you go. One very clean and sparkling mountain bike ready for another good ride. P1zzeezee Bike Wash certainly does what you'd expect it to do. It's incredibly effective whilst being completely safe to use on all parts as well as being free from any harmful ingredients making it totally friendly to the environment. Although this is the first outing for this product, BRITISHTRAILS liked it so much it gains a BRITISHTRAILS red tick in a box for approval.
